Everythingdrifts.I keep it true.
Metrology, calibration and the systems behind trustworthy measurements, plus AI that helps and still shows its work.

How long can an instrument go?
Five past calibrations show a steady drift. Set how much error you can tolerate and the chart works out when the next calibration is really due, with a safety margin built in.
Suggested interval, with a 20% guard band under the limit.
Example data, invented to show the idea.
Pass, fail, or undetermined?
A measurement is never an exact number. When its uncertainty crosses a tolerance limit, a plain pass or fail can be wrong. A guard band keeps you from accepting, or rejecting, something you can't be sure about.
- Pass
- The value plus U is still inside the limit. Accept.
- Undetermined, pass side
- The value is inside the limit, but the value plus U goes over. A guard band of U does not accept it.
- Undetermined, fail side
- The value is over the limit, but the value minus U is back inside. It is not rejected outright.
- Fail
- The value minus U is already over the limit. Reject.
Uses a single upper limit of 10 µm and a guard band equal to U, the simplest rule. Real decision rules come from your standard or contract, and the wording varies, for example conditional pass and conditional fail. Example values.
AI reads the paperwork. A person signs off.
Calibration certificates arrive as PDFs. A model can pull out the fields and flag anything out of tolerance in seconds, then hand it to someone who checks it.

What I work on
Calibration and interval analysis
Setting intervals from each instrument's own history rather than a fixed calendar, so there are fewer needless calibrations and earlier warning when something drifts.
Equipment asset management
One trustworthy record for every instrument: where it is, what it measures, when it was last checked and what was found.
Standards and compliance
Working within ISO/IEC 17025 ISO 10012 ANSI/NCSL Z540 and keeping the records easy to audit.
Applied AI for metrology
Language models and data tools for reading certificates, spotting trends and drafting routine documents, always with a person checking what matters.
